ABOUT

On Basilene
I curl myself into alcoves and corners of rooms. When seated, I curl my legs beneath me and perch atop my feet. Basilene is my space, albeit a small, relatively inconsequential corner of the internet- it is a safe one. Where these little lines can unfurl and spiral; testing their weight on a non-judgmental, virtual page.
I write essays, poetry, and short fiction- though a long-form fiction project is in the works. My writing circulates around relationships, culture, and mental health.
My short stories are not always, but can be quite gross- I'll warn you if you're about to read one of those.

In art, as well as in my writing, I enjoy playing with abstraction- seeking to capture the ephemerality of emotions and the gray areas in between most decisions. I like things that are tactile, thought-provoking, and maybe a little odd. My collages are often made with litter and other found objects as a form of recycling. If you find any lost Airpods- they're mine.

& In the real world
I work in marketing. This website is probably a poor representation of my professional capabilities.
Currently, I work in a marketing and PR agency; supporting the founder, the NY office, and for the agency's own marketing team. I handle creative projects and editorial work in tandem with day-to-day operational responsibilities. I also freelance, writing long-form pieces as well as copy for paid advertising and social media. It's like 5+ years of writing experience now- copywriting, research, strategy, and design (non-profits, small businesses, as well as corporate retailers and B2B organizations). You can read my writing in PRWeek, on the blog of a leading sustainability company, and under the name of other individuals I may never reveal.
Though I am quick with technology, my true expertise lies in obsessive levels of organization, my sense for aesthetics, and my deep consideration for other beings. I am passionate about helping others and take solace in my devotion to projects. It's actually kind of gross how much I take enjoy creating visually pleasing layouts and carefully crafted copy.

But in the end, Basilene is my space. The pieces here are mere explorations, though unfortunately they are often a reflection of myself. If you're interested in working with me professionally hit the contact button and ignore the salacious photos of me on this website.
